March 30th and 31st brought me to Thailand Heli Blowout 2019 at the Thung Srikan Flying Field in Bangkok, (THB) Asia's premier fun fly and Competition. This would be my first competition and demos out of Australia.
We arrived Thursday afternoon to the airport where we were greeted by my Teammates father Narong Poonoi who drove us off to the hotel to assemble helis for practice starting Friday.
The weather in Bangkok was quite a shock to the system with temperatures above 35°c and humidity in the high 60's.
Friday I managed to get in 7 flights of practice even with the chaotic flight lines, mainly set manoeuvers as that's what I was flying on Saturday. I made some good progress with the help of my teammates. Inbetween flights I was assisting the team with mechanical issues throughout the day where I could. I left Friday feeling better about

As you are browsing through the Modelflight website you will notice that the newer releases from Horizon Hobby are equipped with a S.A.F.E receiver but what is it exactly? What is for and how do you use it?
1. Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope
S.A.F.E technology or (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) came about in 2013 developed by the good folks at Horizon Hobby who essentially wanted to help or assist inexperienced RC pilots gain confidence when flying. The first time we saw SAFE it was partnered with a re-release of arguably the most popular training plane ever sold – The E-Flite Apprentice. This was an absolute game-changer and revolutionized the way we look at the world of trainer aircrafts.

Blade have always been known for producing high quality RC helicopters. While the majority of these models come ready-to-fly (RTF), today we wanted to look at two new helis at the opposite end of the spectrum. The 600 X and 550 X kits are great for pilots who want to build a heli to their own specifications. The great thing about these kits, though, is that they give you a very solid foundation for building this dream machine. Let's look at each kit in turn.
Blade 550 X
The 550 X is one of three helicopters to be found in Blade's Pro Series range. It is no surprise, therefore, that this model has been designed for peak performance. It comes with an E-Flite Heli 550-sized brushless motor. This 1360Kv outrunner gives you the power you need for extreme aerobatic performance. This is coupled with a 10-amp BEC, also from E-Flite. As for the rest, that's entirely up to you! You have the opportunity to add your own transmitter, receiver and other components to create a 550 X of your own. Once these components have been added, you can experience all that Blade has to offer. This helicopter has many appealing design features. For example, the flybarless head comes with direct-to-swash functionality and main frames made from carbon fibre. The head block is also made from carbon fibre and the swashplate is CNC-machined aluminium. It's these attributes that make the 550 X a true performer in the air.
Blade 600 X
If you are looking for something even larger, the Blade 600 X kit is a great choice. This helicopter comes with the same frame and rotor head used in the aforementioned 550 X, but is equipped with an E-Flite 700-size brushless motor. Blade have also equipped this model with 600mm Revolution main blades from carbon fibre. You will also receive 95mm Revolution tail blades. This is a great base upon which you can complete the 600 X. Some of its other features include triple ball bearing support with a 10mm steel main shaft and an integrated bearing block servo mount. The 600 X is, ultimately, one of Blade's finest. We hope this blog post has given you a taste of these exciting new RC helicopters. Be sure to stay tuned for new releases from Blade. Until then, the sky's the limit!

Precision and Performance - The Blade 450X
It's bold, it's bright and it's coming soon to Modelflight! The Blade 450X RC helicopter is an amazing offering. This ready-to-fly model has a very lightweight airframe and a solid head design, in which you will find solid 80-durometer dampers and 325mm main blades made from carbon fibre. All of these components are surrounded by a strong CNC-machined aluminium head block. This helicopter comes with a new helical main drive system, which features a new main gear and motor pinion with helical-shaped teeth; making the drive system quieter. For cyclic and tail rotor control, Blade have installed digital, metal gear servos. This will give you the precision and durability you need to perform at your peak. Every inch of this RC helicopter emphasises precision. The composite material swashplate is made from aluminium with a lightweight fibre-reinforced material that reduces the weight without sacrificing durabilty. The main shaft
