Modelflight has been proud to support the Adelaide Golden Era Air Races since its inception in 1997. This biennial event was held at the Constellation Model Flying Club at Virginia over the April 5th - 7th weekend. Pilots from SA, Victoria and NSW competed in 5 classes of racing. Golden Era Inline, Golden Era Radial, Reno Warbirds, Formula One and 30cc Warbirds/AT-6 Texan. The Golden Era models used up to 80cc engines whilst the Reno models are limited to 63cc engines. Learn how to fly with the Delta Ray One A brand new and fantastic product from E-Flite is the Delta Ray One. Some of you may be familiar with the Delta Ray, which was a previous model from HobbyZone, with a dual motor unit that they have used for inspiration in the new variant. It was a delta wing style with a cockpit up the front. E-Flite have changed the aircraft a little and offered it in a fantastic “learn how to fly” RC Plane. The Delta Ray One is a bit of an all-new design, with a pusher propeller instead of the dual motor, E-Flite have also reduced the size... -

A modern day classic The Phoenix Models Scanner 46 size ARF model hit Australian shores in early 1998. It was the brainchild of the late Tony Farnan and Phoenix Models who saw the need for a ‘second’ model for the beginner to transition to once they achieved solo status. The Scanner was awarded the Best Hobby Product of the Year at the 1998 ATA Toy and Hobby Fair and since then thousands of MAAA modellers have successfully flown a Scanner. This low wing model features a thick airfoil, parallel chord and a long tail moment which makes for very forgiving flight characteristics. It has proven to be an ideal model for the new flier who wants to graduate to something that is a bit more agile than the typical high wing trainer. Coupled with an OS 46 engine it makes for a great flying spo... -

This would be one of the most commonly asked questions we hear at Modelflight – rightfully so, there is a lot to consider when making this decision and with so many options available, which trainer plane is the correct one for you? We can’t make up your mind for you, but we can point you in the right direction. Here are a few key pointers which can help you make your decision and a few things to look out for. Try to keep the aircraft as simple as possible by starting off with a three or four channel plane. This will generally consist of throttle, elevator and rudder, with ailerons something to consider if you will be flying outdoors in a windy environment. We strongly recommend going with a high wing model with some dihedral to start with. Som... -

We are thrilled to announce the latest addition to Hangar 9's range of model planes. The de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver is an accurate replica of the full-scale plane of the same name (commonly referred to as the "bush plane" given its ability to handle rugged environments). It comes with a 110inch wingspan and is designed for 30cc gas power, but can also accomodate electric power. Hangar 9 are well known for the quality of their models (as any fan can attest) and the Beaver is no different. It is constructed from the best balsa and plywood materials using modern construction processes, form assembly, tab alignment rigidity and laser-cut part accuracy. Regardless of whether the Beaver is your first giant-scale...
