Once again Adelaide Model Aerosports hosted a big jet event and we were blessed with some good weather on Friday and awesome weather on Saturday. The less said about Sunday, the better.

Adelaide Model Aerosport played host to this year's Jets over Monarto 3-day event. Blessed with some great late winter weather, over 30 pilots with in excess of 50 RC jets attended. Models ranged from small EDF models to the super impressive 3-metre Leonardo turbine model of Theo Arvanitakis. Pilots came from Alice Springs, Mildura, Melbourne and various SA-based clubs, and a lot of interested RC modellers came from Adelaide to check out the action. Jets over Monarto took place at Adelaide Model Aerosports, Monarto over the weekend of 26-27-28 August. This event is the post-covid version of Jet Action that had been an annual event for over 25 years.

The field was in perfect condition with closely mown grass on all sides of the north-south sealed strip. We were blessed with sunny weather and a northerly wind for all 3 days. 25 pilots and over 40 turbine and EDF-powered models were present, including something nostalgic (OS 25DF powered Mirage) and something very different (turbine-powered Ultra Stick 30cc). Gallons of Jet A1 were burnt and several hundred successful sorties were flown. A big thank you to the AMA Club and event organisers Greg Leigh and David Wearing-Smith.

BAE Hawk RC Jet

If you’re a jet fan, you’d probably be familiar with the BAE Hawk. This popular aircraft has been modelled by Phoenix Model once again, this time in a larger version that is powered by a turbine engine. It comes Almost-Ready-to-Fly (ARF) meaning you’ll need to supply all your own electronics including a receiver, transmitter and all your running gear.

This week we have received some amazing new aircrafts and RC cars, including the new Viper RC Jet from E-flite, so let's get into it and see what we've got.

Victorious Viper EDF Jet

The Viper is a Brand-New 70mm electric ducted fan Jet from E-flite. It is available in two versions, a Bind-N-Fly (BNF) and a Plug-and-Play version (PNP). PNP would be ideal for non-Spektrum transmitter users as it allows you to use your own receiver. This EDF RC Jet comes pre-assembled and you will need to add your own receiver, transmitter, battery and charger. Spektrum Radio users will benefit from the BNF version as it includes a pre-installed Spektrum receiver with exclusive AS3X and SAFE select technologies tuned

We’ve restocked some favourite items this week, including Premier Aircraft’s Flex Jet and Cap 232, the E-flite V900, as well as the Trail Honcho and Jeep Cherokee SCX10 IIs by Axial. Let’s get into it!

Flex Jet Thrust Vector Super 

The Flex jet from Premier Aircraft is a super-capable, electric-ducted fan jet. This has been out for a while in the two colours (red and blue), but Premier Aircraft have updated it by adding thrust vectoring, meaning it's opened a wider range of 3D manoeuvres this model can perform, and there’s more control authority, so essentially, you're capable of doing a lot more in the air. The jet comes close to almost assembled, coming pre-fitted with the Aura

The sky above Monarto played host to an extraordinary RC jet display last weekend. The annual RC Jet Action was hosted by the Adelaide Model Aerosport Club and what a show it was! Modelflight was fortunate enough to attend the spectacle and we have put together the below video which highlights all the action:
