November 28, 2013 12Recently on Modelflight's YouTube channel, we added an unboxing and action video for the Vaterra Halix. If you haven't had a chance to watch this video yet, check it out below: You can see why we are so excited about the arrival of the Halix. With its innovative AVC Technology, driving this powerful car becomes much easier. As Matt demonstrated in the film, with the AVC technology turned off, it is difficult to maintain the direction of this RC truck on the dirt track. Admittedly, Matt is a better with RC planes and helicopters than cars, so a more experienced driver may be able to handle the powerful Halix through their developed skills. But for the beginner-to-intermediate driver, AVC Technology

November 25, 2013 15Recently on Modelflight's YouTube channel, Mike provided an update on some of the new releases that have are now available on our website. If you haven't seen the video yet, check it out below:
As you can see, there has been a lot of new arrivals the last few weeks and this blog post will discuss the products that Mike covered, beginning with the JR XG14E.
JR XG14E
This is a classic European-style transmitter. If you are a fan of tray radios, this new release from JR will have great appeal. In terms of functionality, it is very similar to the original high-tech JR XG14 transmitter. As Mike mentioned, there are also a wide range of option parts that you can use with the XG14e, such as palm rests, transmitter tray arms and a specially-designed transmitter case. If you prefer tray-type

November 22, 2013 6A fun night of indoor flying was held last night at ETSA Stadium, Adelaide. There were around 30 pilots and spectators in attendance and, once again, a variety of models were on show. Of particular interest was the new Blade 180QX. This RC quadcopter was very stable in the air, thanks to the included SAFE Technology. Similar to the 350 QX, this quadcopter comes with an on-board camera, which certainly came in handy last night, as we were able to capture some great footage from the sky. If you haven't already seen this footage (along with the other video highlights we captured), check out our video below: As you can see, the 180 QX is very smooth in the air and was able to film all the action of the event. If you are looking for an

November 21, 2013 76We are thrilled to announce the latest addition to Hangar 9's range of model planes. The de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver is an accurate replica of the full-scale plane of the same name (commonly referred to as the "bush plane" given its ability to handle rugged environments). It comes with a 110inch wingspan and is designed for 30cc gas power, but can also accomodate electric power. Hangar 9 are well known for the quality of their models (as any fan can attest) and the Beaver is no different. It is constructed from the best balsa and plywood materials using modern construction processes, form assembly, tab alignment rigidity and laser-cut part accuracy. Regardless of whether the Beaver is your first giant-scale

November 12, 2013 9Whilst it was only a handful of eager beavers who played on the highly polished floor under the lights, never-the-less, a good time was had by all and few would complain of the number of flights that they enjoyed. It was a bumper night for Mike O'Reilly for he endured lots of time setting up a couple of new and exciting models at no expense to any other fliers. His efforts were much appreciated. My first pic shows the latest import at Model Flight with the highly attractive UMX SBach 342 3D to give it its full title which is almost larger than the micro model. Like most of the micros being imported into our country these days it is quite quick but delightfully steady in flight. Well - it was when in Mike's hands and as it was the first of its kind in the country at that time, I don't recall seeing anyone else

November 08, 2013 88Have you got the hang of a trainer RC model and feel like you are ready to step up to a more intermediate-level model? Congratulations, this is a great milestone in your journey as an RC pilot. Bear in mind, though, you are going to need a good radio to go with your next model. That's where we want to help. In this blog post, we will be reviewing and comparing some of the best radios for intermediate-level models to help you find the one that is right for you. What To Look For In Your First RC Radio There are several things you may want to consider when buying your first radio. Firstly, check to see that the radio you are looking at is compatible with the model you want to fly. Different remote control models come with different receivers, so make sure that the radio you are looking at works with the model in question. Secondly, think about whether you want a mode 1 or mode 2 transmitter. We wrote a blog post on the
