October 31, 2013 44Vaterra made an exciting announcement today with the release of their brand new on-road RC car - the 2002 Nissan S15 Silvia. This car is modelled on the same Silvias that are highly sought-after among the world's car tuners (and made famous by The Fast and the Furious movies). Consistent with this global image, the Silvia RC car features an officially-licensed Nissan body. This body features scale details such as side view mirros and headlight buckets. You will also receive an optional racing wing and front dive planes included with your purchase. This body is underpinned by Vaterra's reputable V100-C chassis, to give you both the look and performance characteristics for street domination. This chassis gives you a balanced, neutral handling car and its universal body mounts are compatible with most other 1/10-scale bodies. Vaterra

October 23, 2013 13We are very pleased to announce that a new RC quadcopter from Blade is coming to Modelflight. After the huge success of the 350 QX, Blade have launched the 180 QX. Similar to the 350, this new quadcopter can be used for aerial photography and filming. It comes with an EFC-720 HD flight camera included, allowing you to film, or capture images, as you fly. Another similarity with the 350 is that the 180 QX quadcopter comes with SAFE technology, giving you the choice of three flight modes. There are high and low angle flight modes which allow you to capture stable video footage and images. You also have the choice of agility mode, which allows you to experience aerobatic flight with the assistance of the AS3X stability system. What is unique is that the EFC-720 camera can be operated using the triggers on your transmitter. The camera

October 23, 2013 46It has been another busy few months for our fellow RC pilot, Chuck T. Seeker. Showcasing some of the latest remote control planes available from Modelflight, Chuck's YouTube channel has been a hub of activity recently. In this post, we wanted to bring you up to speed with three of Chuck's recent review and action videos. To begin with, Chuck produced this unboxing and review video for the HobbyZone Delta Ray. He also shows you how to assemble this beginner's RC plane. This is a great video from Chuck. You can see how the SAFE Technology in the

The last few weeks have been very exciting for RC car drivers with the release of the Vaterra Halix monster truck and the Losi TEN-Rally X. One feature that these vehicles have in common is a new innovation from Spektrum, Active Vehicle Control (AVC); the topic of our blog post today. AVC is designed to help you drive faster with greater control. Using a combination of sensors and software algorithims, this Spektrum technology adjusts a car's steering and throttle output at a rate faster than humanly possible. This makes RC driving easier to manage. Heading Hold and Throttle Management There are two components that underpin AVC: Heading Hold and Throttle Management. Let's look at each in turn. Heading Hold manages your steering output by automatically

October 18, 2013 7ETSA Stadium once again played host to RC pilots and spectators last night at Adelaide's October 2013 indoor flying event. It was a good showing, with around 25 people in attendance (plus an additional 25 netball players who were meant to be practicing on the other court, but seemed to be distracted by the flying activity). A wide variety of RC models were on display at the event, with a great representation from increasingly-popular RC quadcopters. Several Blade mQXs were seen darting across the stadium. With their AS3X technology, they were very stable in the air and enjoyable to watch. It was also great to see a new Blade 350QX. These remote control quadcopters have been a hit and have just arrived at Modelflight. With their SAFE Technology and GoPro camera mounts, no doubt we will be seeing more of these models at future Indoor Flying events. On

October 17, 2013 79If you have an appreciation for scale warbirds, this new release from ParkZone is sure to capture your attention. The Mosquito Mk VI has just been announced and it has many noteworthy features. This is the first twin-motor park flyer from ParkZone and, in keeping with their traditions, ParkZone have ensured that this plane delivers smooth and predictable flight characteristics. The dual motors have been mounted so that their counter-rotating props and thrust angles smooth out the effects of abrupt power changes. This makes this model R/C plane as fun and as relaxing to fly as any other single-motor ParkZone model. The motors in question are 370-size, 1300Kv brushless motors, both of which are powered by a single 3S 2000-2200mAh LiPo pack (sold separately). Even if you add the optional flap servos and electric retracts (sold separately),

October 09, 2013 39It was only a short time ago when we were thrilled to announce the Vaterra Helix with its cutting-edge Active Vehicle Control (AVC) technology. Now this same technology is coming in a Losi RC car. The TEN-Rally X has just been released and we are very excited about what this 1/10-scale remote control car has to offer. As mentioned, at the core of this 4WD is the new AVC technology. This technology uses intuitive sensors to quickly adjust your steering and throttle output. With AVC, the Losi TEN-Rally X offers the control and stability you need so that your drifts become more dramatic and accelerations more fluid. Active Vehicle Control (AVC) Technology Let's

October 07, 2013 275Keen to get started with RC gliders? These models are great to fly and, as any pilot can attest, seeing your glider soar with the wind is an amazing sight. In this blog post, we will be comparing the best RC gliders for beginners in order to help you find the right one for your needs. What to Look For in a Beginner's RC Glider There are several points to consider when looking for your first RC glider. As mentioned, some models come with motors to assist with launch and climb. These remote control gliders would be ideal for beginners; allowing you to get into the air quickly and easily. The material of the glider should also be taken into account. Durable material (such as foam) is easy to repair, should you encounter any trouble during your first few flights. Finally, the RC glider should be easy to control. We would recommend that beginner pilots choose a model that has
