June 28, 2013 150If you are the proud owner of a JR RC helicopter, you will probably be aware of the large range of parts that JR have available for their models. At Modelflight, we strive to ensure that we have the latest and widest range of JR parts available. As a matter of fact, at the last count we had over 1400 different JR parts available! Given this broad range, we thought it would be wise to talk about how you can quickly and easily find the JR part/s you are looking for. On Modelflight's YouTube channel, Matt recently put this video together outlining how

June 26, 2013 23Recently on the Modelflight Blog, we have been talking about SAFE Technology and how it applies to the E-Flite Apprentice S. Today, we want to talk about SAFE's application in the Blade Nano QX Quadcopter. Similar to the Apprentice, the SAFE Technology in the Nano QX makes it a great choice for beginners. In this RC quadcopter, SAFE is used to create a "Stability Flight Mode". When selected, the quadcopter's pitch and bank angles are limited, allowing for a smooth flight. Additionally, if you let go of the

June 25, 2013 37I dare say that we cannot expect, at this time of the year, any warmer weather than we're experiencing at present and this was the case for our June gathering of Indoor Fliers and, no doubt, the reason for us scratching to pay the rent at the stadium, the home of Netball S.A. where we gather to fly on the third Thursday of each Month - right throughout the year. I was pleased to hear from our leader, Michael O'Reilly of Model Flight that we did, in fact, make the necessary fee for this ultra-cold night. It turned out to be a great night for those who were keen enough to come along, no doubt like me, covered by multi-layers of woollen wear and the heaviest quality at that. My first picture, on this occasion, is an opening shot of Mike and Wayne in deep conversation

June 21, 2013 47A small but enthusiastic group of pilots braved very cold conditions to attend Indoor Flying at ETSA Park in Adelaide last night. There were some great models at the event and Modelflight was fortunate enough to come along with a camera in hand! On show was Alan Marks very impressive hovercraft, pictured below: Mike Seyfang also came with a Mini Vapor, Night Vapor and his own design EPP shock Flyer, a Sukhoi SU-26.

June 21, 2013 31In a previous blog post, we gave an overview of SAFE Technology in general and what its benefits are. In this post, we want to talk about how this technology is applied in the E-Flite Apprentice S 15e. The Apprentice S is an outstanding trainer plane and one of the primary reasons for its effectiveness is the use of SAFE Technology. As you may recall, SAFE allows for the creation of sensor-assisted flight envelopes

June 11, 2013 13Modelflight was fortunate to attend the 36th LSF Glider tournament on the weekend in Jerilderie, New South Wales. The conditions were near perfect for Jerilderie 2013, with some light winds, sunshine and not a raindrop in sight. It was one of the closest competitions ever, with 58 pilots flew 15 rounds over the 3 day event. We would like to congratulate the overall winner of Jerilderie 2013 - Joe Wurts from New Zealand. In 2nd place was Matt Lowe and Carl Strautins took out 3rd place. Joe also won the Hand Launch Glider competition. The Australian F3J team for the 2014 World Championships in Slovakia was also decided (by thousandths of a point). The team consists of Matt Lowe, Carl Strutins and Nick Chabrel. In a very tight finish, Nick managed to beat former World Champion
