The Gratton Field in Calvert, Queensland came alive last weekend. The Spektrum Gratton Airshow was held from February 14 to 17 and Modelflight was really pleased to be involved in this fantastic event. 108 modellers from across Australia participated in the competitions at Gratton, and they were watched by an estimated 2,200 spectators who attended the event over the course of 4 days. We had several of our team members at Gratton, including our Managing Director, Mike O'Reilly (pictured above). There were a wide range of modelling activities at the Airshow, including scale competitions, racing, discus launch and aero tow demonstrations. If that wasn't enough, Gratton was pleased to host two Very Important Pilots from Team Horizon - Ali Machinksy (below left) and Mike McConville (below right).

February 04, 2013 80We are very pleased to announce an exciting competition that Chuck T. Seeker is running in conjunction with Modelflight. Chuck recently reached an momentus milestone on his YouTube channel - a total of 1 million video views. Needless to say, we are thrilled for Chuck and as such, we decided to help him celebrate by working with him to give you the chance to wine one of two Spektrum DX7S transmitters. These transmitters are fantastic. They come with 20-model memory, built-in telemetry and extensive programming options for your RC plane and/or heli. This competition was announced on Chuck's YouTube channel in late January and

January 31, 2013 23It has been a very exciting week for us at Modelflight. Not only have we announced the launch of Vaterra, a whole new RC car brand, but some of our team members have been fortunate enough to attend the Nuremberg Toy Fair, the largest international fair of its kind. There were plenty of RC products being showcased at Nuremberg this year and we wanted to focus on three new exciting ones that will soon be available. The first is the Blade CX4. This new RC heli is a great choice for novice pilots who are strengthening their skills. The key feature of the CX4 is the self-stabilising

January 28, 2013 77One month into 2013 and Chuck T. Seeker has already produced some excellent RC plane videos. In the last few weeks, we have blogged about Chuck's unboxing, review and demo videos for the ParkZone VisionAire and E-Flite Carbon Z Yak 54. Today, we wanted to focus on what Chuck described as "something completely different" - his indoor demo videos featuring the

January 23, 2013 30In the last week, we have added three new videos to our YouTube channel, each one focusing on the brand new Glasair from HobbyZone. We have talked about the Glasair in a previous blog post, so we wanted to use this update to cover the videos associated with this exciting new

WE COMMENCE 2013 AT THE NETBALL STADIUM...
Whilst the evening started off in a somewhat mild manner, it did end up being a fascinating night of indoor flying, as they usually do. Netball SAs Duty Manager, Adam was back with us after what has been a fairly long break when he had been rostered on other shifts that just did not coincide with our flying times. Welcome back Adam. I open the photographic portion of this months story with a shot of, not only the box but also of the latest baby heli which, although only released in the U.S.A. at present, it will be showing its pretty little face in our leading hobby shops in the fairly near future, so watch for it. It is called the Blade (what other name did -
January 18, 2013 76Last night was certainly an amazing experience for everyone who came along to Modelflight's indoor flying session at ETSA Park, South Australia. A lot of new products have arrived since the last indoor flight in December 2012, with two of them being showcased with great reception. Despite the hot weather, around 30 pilots and spectators watched as the Blade mCP X BL and ParkZone Visionaire

January 01, 2013 38Well dear readers, although our final indoor gathering for 2012 began fairly quietly at ETSA Netball Stadium perhaps due to it being a quite languid evening and our fliers being a little loath to leave their air-conditioning, for some unknown reason, we seemed to have a larger-than-normal group of young people and due to our friend Chuck T. having more than just a mop of hair on his head, he showed excellent forethought and a great relationship with the littlies. However, more on that shortly firstly let me mention our latest dad (in our midst of course) and I speak of Michael whose lovely wife presented him with a young gentleman and, no doubt, a future flier at ETSA Park. At just five weeks, I believe that he already has excellent control and touch of his joy stick and we look forward to bigger and better things from the young man. Whilst I could not show you a photo of the baby, my first shot is of the proud dad. We all join in, Michael, in congratulating you and your wife on the

November 28, 2012 32What a fascinating and interesting night was ahead for friends, both flying and spectators, who were able to make it to ETSA PARK for the November event. There were new models, such as helis, Quads and fixed wing aircraft and there were also people there who could almost be classed as new models because of the duration in time since we last saw them. My first photo shows two fliers who ably fitted this description, and I speak of Mike, the father, and Ryan, the son Holmes, each in their own right, excellent fliers and it was with much pleasure that we welcomed their return to the fold.
