May 01, 2013 49Indeed, after months of anticipation, the 2013 JR Aerotow did come to the Warracknabeal Aerodome and Modelflight was there to capture all the action. Over 4 jam-packed days, 50 pilots from across Australia experienced some incredible scale soaring performances. There were over 100 scale gliders at the event, ranging from the small E-Flite Ultra Micro ASK-21 to a 7.5 metre-span, 1/2-scale ASW 28. We were able to capture the below footage from the event. Unfortunately, due to the excessive wind noise at Warracknabeal, we decided to produce the video without sound. Nevertheless,

April 11, 2013 47Following on from our previous blog post about Team TLR/Modelflight's Andrew Gillot's win on the weekend, we wanted to bring you some more RC car news from the 2013 Electric Modified Off-Road Nationals. In addition to the 2WD Modified competition in which Gillot claimed victory, the regional city of Mildura, Victoria also played host to a 4WD competition. In a series of thrilling races, Josh Pain claimed the winner's trophy after driving his Yokomo B-MAX4 II over three stage finals series. He managed to claim victory in the first two legs; an impressive result for Josh. The other contenders who made it to the top-3 podium were Chris Sturdy and Matt Griffen respectively. Modelflight was able to capture all the excitement from these 4WD races in the below video, which was recently released on our YouTube channel:

March 05, 2013 45Well dear readers, this is a somewhat belated article with which I am endeavouring to cover the Indoor Flying Evening at the Netball Australia stadium for the 21st of February. Although it was one of our smallest numbers of fliers on this occasion, it was more because of my getting acquainted with a new computer that it has taken me this long to furnish you with a report and I do tender my apologies. It was, probably, our hottest night at ETSA Park and, although you may not realise, because a large number of our models are ultra-lightweight (such as the "Vapor" and the later addition to its family, the "Mini Vapor") both Horizon models, even a cough in the wrong direction could send them off course, so our request to the Duty Manager for the Air Conditioner to be turned off, makes for a fairly uncomfortable night.

February 25, 2013 122Last Friday, Modelflight was thrilled to launch a video interview we conducted with world famous RC pilot and and Horizon Hobby aircraft designer, Mike McConville. Mike was in Australia for the Spektrum Gratton Airshow and he kindly made the time to talk to us after the event. On Modelflight's Facebook page, we asked you to submit your questions to Mike and we picked the best ones for the interview. In our ten minute video, filmed in Adelaide's beautiful McClaren Vale, Mike talks about his work, past experience with the RC Tournament of Champions (TOC) and even how UFOs will shape our future. The final video was

February 22, 2013 96It was another fun night of indoor flying on Thursday. A crowd of pilots and spectators gathered to enjoy a variety of RC planes as they took to the air inside ETSA Stadium. Some of the models on display included the ParkZone T-28 Trojan. This brilliant scale plane's flight characteristics were just as good as its apperance. Its smooth takeoffs and landings were matched by its graceful performance in the air. As you can see in the video footage we captured on the night, the Trojan maneouvers easily, making it a great choice for intermediate-level pilots. Please note, though, that the video below shows the Ultra Micro version of the Trojan. Unfortunately, this version is
