June 21, 2013 60A small but enthusiastic group of pilots braved very cold conditions to attend Indoor Flying at ETSA Park in Adelaide last night. There were some great models at the event and Modelflight was fortunate enough to come along with a camera in hand! On show was Alan Marks very impressive hovercraft, pictured below: Mike Seyfang also came with a Mini Vapor, Night Vapor and his own design EPP shock Flyer, a Sukhoi SU-26.

June 11, 2013 23Modelflight was fortunate to attend the 36th LSF Glider tournament on the weekend in Jerilderie, New South Wales. The conditions were near perfect for Jerilderie 2013, with some light winds, sunshine and not a raindrop in sight. It was one of the closest competitions ever, with 58 pilots flew 15 rounds over the 3 day event. We would like to congratulate the overall winner of Jerilderie 2013 - Joe Wurts from New Zealand. In 2nd place was Matt Lowe and Carl Strautins took out 3rd place. Joe also won the Hand Launch Glider competition. The Australian F3J team for the 2014 World Championships in Slovakia was also decided (by thousandths of a point). The team consists of Matt Lowe, Carl Strutins and Nick Chabrel. In a very tight finish, Nick managed to beat former World Champion

May 27, 2013 87For the 20th year in a row, Adelaide Model Aerosport played host to Jet Action at Monarto Field and Modelflight was proud to be associated with this event. There was a large number of pilots from across Australia participating in the event and the crowd numbers were also positive. There were some very impressive models on show, including a Futura from Tomahawk Design, flown by Paul Martin. Several twins and Eurosport models were also at the event. We also noted several EDF models; not necessarily large ones, but big enough to put in solid performances. One model that really captured our attention was the BVM King Cat, flown by Jason Starkey. We were able to capture some great event footage

May 24, 2013 23Whether it was the colder weather or the fact that it was "Mad May" I am at a loss for words, but there must have been a reason for a fairly quiet gathering for this Indoor Meeting. I believe, according to one of our usual fliers, that our friends out East only had 6 in attendance at their last Indoor night so perhaps it is a trend at present. It was an exciting night for your friendly Phoenix for I was to present my brand new McEwin built tenth scale hovercraft, The Griffon 2000 TDX. to the public and my friends.I have not had it on the scales, but it is a quite heavy model and we, being Bob and I, discovered on its maiden flight, that the triple rudders were not strong enough to do their job efficiently and that they were inclined to flex when they should have been as stiff as the proverbial poker. It was not a huge problem for Bob for a few minutes

May 20, 2013 48The coastal city of Coffs Harbour played host to Helifest 2013 last weekend and what a show it was! Modelflight was able to visit the event and we were very impressed with the range of RC helis that were on show (not to mention the excellent skills of the pilots operating them). Over the course of three days, pilots and spectators from around Australia came to witness what has been one of the country's best helicopter fun flies for many years and 2013 was no different. One man to watch was our very own pilot, Hamish, who flew the JR VIBE NEX E8 and the
