The coastal city of Coffs Harbour played host to Helifest 2013 last weekend and what a show it was! Modelflight was able to visit the event and we were very impressed with the range of RC helis that were on show (not to mention the excellent skills of the pilots operating them).
Over the course of three days, pilots and spectators from around Australia came to witness what has been one of the country's best helicopter fun flies for many years and 2013 was no different. One man to watch was our very own pilot, Hamish, who flew the JR VIBE NEX E8 and the JR Vibe SG E12 RC helis. Hamish put on an amazing show for the spectators and we were able to capture his E8 demo, which you can see below:
Some of the components in Hamish's E8 heli included the JR DS8925HV servo. Powering the E8 was the Kontronik Pyro 700-52 brushless outrunner motor. He also used Revolution 600mm blades, which were connected to the JR MB-351 Multi Blade Rotor Head. In the photo to the right, you can see a comparison between the two-blade and three-blade heads on the E8. Hamish also described the E12 as an excellent heli to fly and was absolutely faultless.
We were thrilled to be involved in this great event and we look forward to returning to Coffs Harbour again. Stay tuned to this blog for future RC events.
