November 22, 2013 15A fun night of indoor flying was held last night at ETSA Stadium, Adelaide. There were around 30 pilots and spectators in attendance and, once again, a variety of models were on show. Of particular interest was the new Blade 180QX. This RC quadcopter was very stable in the air, thanks to the included SAFE Technology. Similar to the 350 QX, this quadcopter comes with an on-board camera, which certainly came in handy last night, as we were able to capture some great footage from the sky. If you haven't already seen this footage (along with the other video highlights we captured), check out our video below: As you can see, the 180 QX is very smooth in the air and was able to film all the action of the event. If you are looking for an

November 12, 2013 35Whilst it was only a handful of eager beavers who played on the highly polished floor under the lights, never-the-less, a good time was had by all and few would complain of the number of flights that they enjoyed. It was a bumper night for Mike O'Reilly for he endured lots of time setting up a couple of new and exciting models at no expense to any other fliers. His efforts were much appreciated. My first pic shows the latest import at Model Flight with the highly attractive UMX SBach 342 3D to give it its full title which is almost larger than the micro model. Like most of the micros being imported into our country these days it is quite quick but delightfully steady in flight. Well - it was when in Mike's hands and as it was the first of its kind in the country at that time, I don't recall seeing anyone else

October 18, 2013 28ETSA Stadium once again played host to RC pilots and spectators last night at Adelaide's October 2013 indoor flying event. It was a good showing, with around 25 people in attendance (plus an additional 25 netball players who were meant to be practicing on the other court, but seemed to be distracted by the flying activity). A wide variety of RC models were on display at the event, with a great representation from increasingly-popular RC quadcopters. Several Blade mQXs were seen darting across the stadium. With their AS3X technology, they were very stable in the air and enjoyable to watch. It was also great to see a new Blade 350QX. These remote control quadcopters have been a hit and have just arrived at Modelflight. With their SAFE Technology and GoPro camera mounts, no doubt we will be seeing more of these models at future Indoor Flying events. On

August 20, 2013 66It was a great turnout at the August indoor flying session at ETSA Park, South Australia. Pilots and spectactors flocked to see some brilliant RC plane and helicopter demonstrations, in addition to seeing some of the latest releases from Modelflight. It was an impressive line-up. Some of the new models that were on show included the new 350 QX from Blade, the Delta Ray from

June 25, 2013 56I dare say that we cannot expect, at this time of the year, any warmer weather than we're experiencing at present and this was the case for our June gathering of Indoor Fliers and, no doubt, the reason for us scratching to pay the rent at the stadium, the home of Netball S.A. where we gather to fly on the third Thursday of each Month - right throughout the year. I was pleased to hear from our leader, Michael O'Reilly of Model Flight that we did, in fact, make the necessary fee for this ultra-cold night. It turned out to be a great night for those who were keen enough to come along, no doubt like me, covered by multi-layers of woollen wear and the heaviest quality at that. My first picture, on this occasion, is an opening shot of Mike and Wayne in deep conversation

June 21, 2013 60A small but enthusiastic group of pilots braved very cold conditions to attend Indoor Flying at ETSA Park in Adelaide last night. There were some great models at the event and Modelflight was fortunate enough to come along with a camera in hand! On show was Alan Marks very impressive hovercraft, pictured below: Mike Seyfang also came with a Mini Vapor, Night Vapor and his own design EPP shock Flyer, a Sukhoi SU-26.

May 24, 2013 23Whether it was the colder weather or the fact that it was "Mad May" I am at a loss for words, but there must have been a reason for a fairly quiet gathering for this Indoor Meeting. I believe, according to one of our usual fliers, that our friends out East only had 6 in attendance at their last Indoor night so perhaps it is a trend at present. It was an exciting night for your friendly Phoenix for I was to present my brand new McEwin built tenth scale hovercraft, The Griffon 2000 TDX. to the public and my friends.I have not had it on the scales, but it is a quite heavy model and we, being Bob and I, discovered on its maiden flight, that the triple rudders were not strong enough to do their job efficiently and that they were inclined to flex when they should have been as stiff as the proverbial poker. It was not a huge problem for Bob for a few minutes

March 05, 2013 45Well dear readers, this is a somewhat belated article with which I am endeavouring to cover the Indoor Flying Evening at the Netball Australia stadium for the 21st of February. Although it was one of our smallest numbers of fliers on this occasion, it was more because of my getting acquainted with a new computer that it has taken me this long to furnish you with a report and I do tender my apologies. It was, probably, our hottest night at ETSA Park and, although you may not realise, because a large number of our models are ultra-lightweight (such as the "Vapor" and the later addition to its family, the "Mini Vapor") both Horizon models, even a cough in the wrong direction could send them off course, so our request to the Duty Manager for the Air Conditioner to be turned off, makes for a fairly uncomfortable night.
