The 45th League of Silent Flight Australia Tournament was held over the King’s Birthday weekend in Jerilderie, New South Wales.
33 pilots from Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales attended including Brad and Mike from Model Flight. Pilots competed in the Australian Open Thermal class with winch-launched gliders to complete a 10-minute flight in a 12-minute working time, and, in F5J electric glider. The Jerilderie Racecourse was in perfect condition thanks to the preparations of the Murrumbidgee Council, and the weather was as good as you could hope for in winter. Cool mornings but then light winds, sunshine and high temps around 16-18oC. We lost some time on Monday morning due to low fog but still managed to fly 10 rounds of Open Thermal and 12 rounds of F5J. The flying standard was very high in both classes and the results went down to the last few flights of the weekend.
