INDOOR AT ETSA PARK IN FEBRUARY 2015

To my dear flying friends...do you find me appealing? Well I am appealing to you all once again, although not quite as seriously as I was last month. Mike O'Reilly and I, your humble scribe find that we have to push, push in an effort to get all our friends back to ETSA Park. You would have more about which to complain if you were in a Maternity Ward - I only asked you to push twice.  You all know, as well as I that we are most fortunate to have our flying facility.  We had some Interstate visitors join us for a while this month and they had nothing but praise for our good fortune in having our magnificent venue - a venue that does cost us a considerable sum to visit each month.  We must keep our numbers up to maintain our payments and, whilst Model Flight, through its General Manager, Mike O'Reilly, has been picking up the shortfall often, I think the time may arise when they might have to withdraw their help. As you all know, our fee of ten dollars has been maintained through the generosity of Mike, even though the Monthly rental fee has risen this year but we do need the help of the Fliers to keep it at that low rate. One of our more regular fliers, John Oxborough, can be seen, in my first picture, preparing one of his "Cracks" for his entertainment and if you glance across to my next shot you will note that he is joined by one of his regular "Partners in Crime" Mike Holmes and you'll see that one of Mike's two models has a most unusual rotary front.

He did tell me the name of that model but, in my usual hopeless way, I have forgotten it. Best you come along next month and see what it is. Tim, a Model Flight Staffer (in white shirt) in a perfectly  relaxing stance, rather than using a multi-charger, brought a charger for each battery pack and laid them out all ready for a busy night's flying. I have a special reason for making mention of the next gentleman for, having the name of "Steve Burgess" takes me way back to my very early flying days. The Burgess Brothers of those days were long, long time members of the Southern Soaring League and, may even have been founding members of that club. So it was great to welcome the S. B. whose picture appears next to ETSA Park.

Steve flies the flag for OMP in Brisbane and he was joined by Casey who travelled down with Steve and they both proved to be quite skilful model fliers.  As they seemed to hit it off warmly with the locals throughout the night, they will always be welcome as our visitors in Adelaide.

I also had a good reason to include a picture of Mike O'Reilly, even though, for some unknown reason  it is slightly off focus, for which I apologise Mike, but I wanted our readers to see that you always find time to attend so regularly and always with a few boxes of excellent models. I just heard Tom Jacobsen say, "and why not?” I wind up tonight's gallery with a shot of Ian. I cannot recall a night when he has to absent himself from flying too.  He has involved himself quite heavily in quads and evenly spaces them out twixt performing with a number of helicopters. A busy gentleman indeed.

Okay dear friends, I'm closing down now and in doing so i wish to remind you all that we will be flying again on the 26th of March from 7.30p.m. until 9.30p.m. and still for the meagre fee of ten dollars.

If you are smart, you can get even better value for your ten bucks by filling the seats with your friends, neighbors or even friendly neighbors! When you arrive you can say.."No, this is on me."
