New! E-Flite UMX Yak 54 180 BNF – Just Announced

E-Flite made an exciting annoucement today with the launch of the UMX Yak 54 180 BNF. This RC plane is an ultra-micro version of the Carbon-Z Yak, but don't judge it by its small size; the UMX Yak offers the 3D aerobatic performance of a giant-scale model. The Yak is the first Ultra-Micro to combine carbon-fibre-reinforced construction with a power system tuned by world champion aerobatic pilot Quique Somenzini. This construction gives you a rigid, yet lightweight airframe. It has reduced wing loading and increased thrust-to-weight ratio.

This E-Flite RC plane comes with the AS3X stabilisation system, which improves precision and allows you to perform amazing 3D maneuvers. It is powered by a 2S, 3000Kv brushless outrunner motor that gives you outstanding power and smooth operation. The E-Flite UMX Yak 54 180 features a new prop design, which can create more thrust and greater acceleration. Its high-discharge battery capacity allows it to maintain high voltage under load, delivering more power time and time again. On Modelflight's YouTube channel, Mike was able to provide a sneak preview of the UMX Yak (along with the new Schleicher KA-8 glider from ParkZone). You can watch the video below:

Matt was also able to put together this unboxing video, which you can view below:

As a Bind-N-Fly plane, you will need to supply your own transmitter. This 3D RC plane has a 4-channel operation with DSMX technology. As a suggestion, Modelflight would recommend the DX6i transmitter from Spektrum. Additionally, the E-Flite UMX Yak 54 180 has great appearance. Its vibrant trim scheme certainly stands out in the sky and the fully-enclosed battery gives it a very clean look. If you loved the original Carbon-Z Yak, or you are a fan of 3D flying in general, you will certainly be pleased with the new E-Flite UMX Yak 54. This exciting new model is coming soon to Modelflight.
