It's an exciting day fans of
scale model planes.
Hangar 9 have just released the
F4U-1D Corsair. This is a model plane that showcases military scale detail of a competition-grade level. Among its many features, the Corsair has a full-depth cockpit, hidden tail and flap control linkages, scale rib detail, scale three-panel flaps, dummy radial engine, sliding canopy and more.
The Corsair model plane is constructed primarily from wood and has fully balsa-sheeted areas. Its three-piece wing has a robust fibreglass structure at the centre, which can accomodate custom-made retracts built by Robart Mfg (please note that these are sold separately). Hangar 9 also offers a retractable tail wheel option, in addition to the aluminium spoke wheels. This will enhance the scale detail even further.
Out of the box, the Corsair comes finished with genuine UltraCote covering, fibreglass cowling and a wing centre section painted to match. The outer wing panels and control surfaces (with the exception of the three-panel flaps) feature exposed ribs, similar to the full-scale warbird.
In addition to the already-excellent scale detail, Hangar 9 offer a range of optional accessories, such as a scale tail wheel, main wheels and retracts that operate with pneumatic or electric mechanisms. You can also choose from droppable bombs or fuel tanks, a scale 3-blade display prop and optional navigational lights.
There are a broad range of power options to suit the F4U-1D Corsair.
