With SAFE Select and the SAFE Plus GPS enhanced upgrade you can easily overcome the loss of orientation, near-crashes and overcontrol. Learning to fly has been made a little easier. You can select Beginner, Intermediate or Experienced modes and they come with the commensurate level of flight control and stability that you might need.

Panic recovery mode is also available which will instantly return you a steady flight path with just the push of a button. Take off and landing options are plenty a robust landing gear equipped with oversized tyres on the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 enabling you to make use of a variety of runway surfaces – gravel paths, dirt trails, thick grass and smooth concrete or road base. They also give you good prop clearance and allow you to travel with ease over bumpy surfaces. Optional floats sold separately are also available and you can install to take off and land on water.

Real-time telemetry data related to the power system is provided by a 30-amp telemetry-capable ESC equipped to the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2. Battery voltage, current and motor RPM are some of the data at your disposal when using Spektrum AirWare compatible transmitters like the DX6e, DX8E, DX6 G2/G3 and DX8 G2, DX9, iX12, iX20 plus more. And the most important piece of telemetry date – remaining battery life which is displayed on the DXS transmitter with multi-coloured LEDs. The Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 includes Spektrum Smart components such as the S120 USB-C Smart Charger and the 2200mAh 3S Smart LiPo battery for safe and efficient charging. Both versions come with an efficient and powerful brushless power system equipped with a telemetry capable ESC. The receivers, servos and flight controller have all been factory installed into the toughened lightweight EPO airframe that can be assembled easily and quickly without having to use glue or special tools.

Install the optional Landing Assist Sensor for smoother landings

To assist the beginner pilot you have the option of installing Landing Assist Sensor (LAS) which will instruct the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 to automatically flare to ensure smoother and safer landings. Helping those entering RC flying to feel confident with their flying is important to Horizon. As such  SAFE Select has been and remains an excellent option on Horizon RC aircraft for a little while now but with the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 you have the option of upgrading to SAFE Plus GPS enabled technology. This gives you even more safety and confidence-inspiring options when you take to the skies. All you need to do is easily install the optional Spektrum GPS Module which will enable the use of SAFE Plus and the autonomous guidance systems that come with it such as:

Autoland

By holding down a button on your transmitter you activate the Autoland function on Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 which will put this RC trainer airplane on a stabilized landing approach of its own near the GPS initialization point. In order to avoid obstacles you can provide some control variances but the system will handle a safe landing for you. As your skills progress as a pilot you can take over more and more of the landing process yourself.

Holding Pattern 

If things are getting out of your control in the air and you need some breathing room you only have to initiate the GPS guided holding pattern with the quick press of a button. Your Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 will automatically return to flying a circle pattern around the initial GPS point until you cancel this command and resume control.

Virtual Fence 

Sometimes you can lose sight of your RC plane and other times it can just fly too far away. When you have a Virtual Fence set up it creates a set boundary that your Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 won’t fly past. Once your RC airplane hits this boundary it automatically turns back towards the GPS initialization point. As it nears this point the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 will automatically wag its tail and let you know that control is once yours again.
