Iconic RC warbird from E-flite
What do you get when you place a large radial engine into the narrow fuselage of a small single-seat fighter? This simple design process brought about the WWII Focke Wulf Fw 190A for the German Luftwaffe. The superior performance of the Fw 190A in air and ground attacks, and, interception and bombing missions, led to many Luftwaffe pilots moving from the Messerschmitt Bf 109’s into the newer Focke Wulf. E-flite are now releasing their first-ever Fw 190A based on a Rudy Frasca owned full-scale replica. With a factory trim scheme modelled off the wartime aircraft of Austrian Luftwaffe pilot Oskar Bosch, the E-flite Fw 190A 1.5m is big on scale features and details.
The finest Focke-Wulfe yet!
E-flite's first-ever version of the Focke Wulf 190A is, at 1.5m, larger than nearly all other versions of this iconic RC warbird. Despite its size, it is easy to assemble, transport and store thanks largely to its 3-piece wing design. The main gear is included in the centre piece of the wing while the two outer panels snap into place without the need for fasteners. The brushless power system on the E-flite Fw 190A 1.5m has been factory-installed and has a 3-bladed large diameter propeller that when combined with 3200-7000mAh 6S LiPo batteries can hit level flight speeds of 128+km/h. With this kind of power, you also get exhilarating vertical performance as well.
The carbon-fibre and wood reinforcement on the toughened EPO frame of the E-flite Fw 190A 1.5m includes moulded-in guns and panel lines, removable drop tank plus more scale detail to add to the authentic look. There are also functioning scale details on the Focke Wulf that include split flaps and control surfaces with pocket hinges, LED navigation lights. The factory-installed electric retracts on the wide-spaced main gear are scale-like in length and include shock-absorbing struts that allow the RC warbird pilot to take off and land on a number of different surfaces.
One of the great things about this E-flite Fw 190A 1.5m is how accessible it is to pilots with varying experience due to the exclusive AS3X and SAFE Select technology accessible through the AR637TA receiver on the BNF version only. The AS3X is working in the background to help smooth out any turbulence/wind effects and give you a locked-in feel that you may associate with flying a much bigger RC plane. SAFE Select is optional use and sets parameters to your flight envelope like automatic self-levelling and pitch and bank angle limits. If you’re comfortable and/or confident enough with your flying you can turn SAFE Select on/off with the flick of a switch.
The Avian Smart ESC from Spektrum that has been installed into the E-flite Fw 190A 1.5m gives the RC pilot as much information as they can handle with real-time telemetry data related to the power system such as current, motor RPM, battery voltage plus more. This comes via Spektrums AR637TA receiver that is installed only in the BNF Basic version, and, Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters which include: DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, the DX9, the NX6, 8 and 10, the iX12, iX20 and others. The power and looks of a classic WWII RC warbird combine brilliantly with the technology of the 21st century in the form of the E-flite Fw 190A 1.5m.
