Based on the single-seat F-16C variant that entered production in 1984, the E-flite F-16 Thunderbirds 80mm EDF jet is nearly as big as other 90mm EDF models, yet the efficient power system provides longer flight times and greater overall performance when using common 6S 4000-7000mAh batteries. The Smartest and most-detailed high-performance model of the iconic airshow aircraft yet has features like moulded-in panel lines, indicators, sensors, simulated antennas and more that take the realism to the next level. Functional Extra Scale features include optional-use flaperons, sequenced gear doors, full-flying stabs as well as LED navigation and landing lights. For an even more realistic experience, you can purchase an optional simulated afterburner LED ring (EFL87897).

Both the Almost-Ready-To-Fly Plus (ARF Plus) version and the Bind-N-Fly version have nine factory-installed digital metal-geared servos. The ARF Plus version gives you the option to install your receiver and an 80mm EDF power system or turbine of your choice from another similar class model or using other compatible components.

Fully moulded EPO foam construction makes the E-flite F-16 Thunderbirds 80mm EDF jet durable but also workable enough to provide the rich level of stunning scale detail. No glue is needed for assembly with a two-piece wing that bolts into place plus a magnetic nose cone allowing for easy removal for convenient storage and transport. The plastic capped strakes, hatch opening, and edges increase the durability and help prevent paint chipping and damage during handling.

The finish replicates the iconic Thunderbirds scheme with a white plus red and blue paint scheme along with factory-applied stars on the vertical tail and other markings. And unlike the paint used on other similar class models, the white paint was tested with direct sunlight exposure and specially formulated, so it doesn’t “yellow” over time.

The BNF Basic version features a V2 12-blade 80mm fan that is powered by a 2100Kv brushless motor and 100A Spektrum Avian Smart ESC. Put all that together with any of a wide range of LiPo’s in the 6S 4000-7000mAh range and you will get virtually instantaneous throttle response, brilliant vertical performance, fantastic speed and an incredible turbine-like sound. The power system on the F-16 Falcon is so efficient is delivers longer flight times and better performance than any other power system used in 90mm class.

To help you with flight control, the E-flite F-16 Thunderbirds 80mm EDF RC Jet BNF Basic comes equipped with an AR8360T Spektrum receiver that has been pre-programmed with optional use SAFE Select and AS3X technologies. SAFE Select gives you automatic self-levelling in case you get into trouble as well as bank and pitch angle limits, all of which can be turned on and off from your transmitter. AS3X is working permanently for you behind the scenes with thousands of minor corrections per second that assist you against the effect of turbulence and wind and deliver a stabilised locked-in flight experience. And if you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally and only AS3X will be active. Plus, the additional 7th and 8th channels of the factory-installed AR8360T receiver can be used for proper operation of optional simulated afterburner LED accessories and for other functions. Real-time motor RPM, battery voltage, and other telemetry data can be received from the ESC via compatible transmitters and receivers with Smart or standard LiPo batteries while you fly. The telemetry can even show individual cell voltages and temperature of the flight pack when using Spektrum Smart LiPo batteries. The optional use thrust reversing can help shorten rollout after landing and offers other special ground handling capabilities. You can even install the optional Spektrum GPS Telemetry Sensor (SPMA95871; sold separately) to see speed and distance from home in real-time.
