Jim has had a long association with RC flying as the creator of RCGroups.com and owner of Knife Edge Software, which is the original developer behind the RealFlight RC simulator software. Jim's winning plane was the Extra 330SC which has now been replicated by E-flite for the RC flying world in the form of the Extra 330SC 3D 1.3m, featuring Jim's signature trim scheme.

With nearly unlimited 3D and aerobatic performance potential the E-flite Extra 330SC 3D 1.3m can do things in the air that even its full-scale brother cannot! The scale features on this RC plane extend beyond the outline with a detailed cockpit featuring a painted pilot figure and instrument panel as well as a clear canopy. The fairings and wheel pants included with the durable aluminium landing gear also include the iconic trim scheme that adds even further to the authentic scale appearance. 

Designed for Intermediate and Experienced Pilots

The E-flite Extra 330SC 3D 1.3m is a plane for intermediate and experienced pilots and is an upgraded and updated version of the Extra 300 3D 1.3m. Delivering incredible aerobatic, sport flying and 3D capabilities is a given, but the attention to scale detail and helpful features are also part of this impressive package. Features include plastic edges on a larger opening and hatch that will stop any paint chipping when you need to do a battery changeover. There is also a strengthened motor mount allowing the brushless outrunner motor the be fastened more securely. The motor is equipped with a wooden lightweight propeller which delivers copious power from the 3S batteries or, with 4S batteries you can enter into the realms of unlimited vertical performance. The upgraded Spektrum 85-amp Avian Smart Lite ESC gives the pilot immediate and crisp throttle response and also can convey a range of telemetry data while you fly like remaining battery life, motor RPM, current draw and more when used with either Smart or non-Smart batteries, and, compatible receivers (including the AR631 provided) and transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others). 

Durable and Lightweight Composite Reinforced EPO Airframe

The composite reinforced EPO airframe on the E-flite Extra 330SC 3D 1.3m is fully moulded and combines lightweight, durability and rigidity to ensure it can handle the rigours of extreme flying. The landing gear has been upgraded from wire to a much stronger aluminium to increase its durability. Driving the speedy and precise responses in the Extra to the pilots transmitted instructions are four factory-installed metal geared digital servos with ball-link equipped linkages. For even greater precision flight capabilities there are also oversized control surfaces that deliver a higher level of performance.  

Experience SAFE Select and AS3X Technologies

Equipped within the onboard Spektrum electronics are exclusive SAFE Select and AS3X technologies. SAFE Select provides flight envelope protection allowing you to set pitch and bank angle limits as well as a self-levelling function if you lose control. Once your flying improves and your confidence is up SAFE Select can be disengaged with the flick of a switch. AS3X enhances the flight stability of the Extra working behind the scenes to counteract the effects of wind and turbulence to give you even more control.

Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. And, although this is one of the easiest-to-fly Extra models yet, it’s not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or the “next step after a trainer” model for low-time pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly other aerobatic capable models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Timber X 1.2m, Decathlon RJG 1.2m, Commander mPd 1.4m, or other similar models before attempting to fly the Extra 330SC 3D 1.3m.
