Spektrum DX3 Smart Surface Transmitter

Spektrum have released a new entry-level radio system - the DX3 SMART Transmitter. If you’re looking to upgrade your radio system, the DX3 makes the latest technology from Spektrum affordable!

BAE Hawk RC Jet

If you’re a jet fan, you’d probably be familiar with the BAE Hawk. This popular aircraft has been modelled by Phoenix Model once again, this time in a larger version that is powered by a turbine engine. It comes Almost-Ready-to-Fly (ARF) meaning you’ll need to supply all your own electronics including a receiver, transmitter and all your running gear.

To start off 2020, we have received some brand-new RC cars and planes from Axial, E-flite, Losi and TLR.

Losi’s tough Tenacity TT Pro

The Tenacity name has been around for a while now and comes in different options, whether it be a desert buggy, short course truck or trophy truck. The Pro version has essentially all the upgrade parts along with some Spektrum SMART technology in the box, making it a stronger, more durable car with a simpler layout and higher performance. With the release of the brand-new Arrma Kraton 8S, we were lucky enough to get our hands one for a test drive and review... and what an epic car! The Kraton 8S is a massive 1/5th scale beast that is packed full of features and can reach speeds up to 90km/h. We’re going to break this review down into the three main categories of any RC car – electronics, maintenance and durability. Let’s get into it!

Electronics

Because the Kraton 8S is a large 1/5th scale RC car, from the electronic point of view there are certainly some new products, running a full Spektrum system including the DX2E Active transmitter and SR6100AT AVC receiver that allows you to add telemetry functions. With the Spektrum radio system and some additional sensors we have a huge range of telemetry available to us, making it possible to keep track of things like ESC temperature, motor RPM, receiver voltage and drive pack voltage

Modelflight has been proud to support the Adelaide Golden Era Air Races since its inception in 1997. This biennial event was held at the Constellation Model Flying Club at Virginia over the April 5th - 7th weekend.

Pilots from SA, Victoria and NSW competed in 5 classes of racing. Golden Era Inline, Golden Era Radial, Reno Warbirds, Formula One and 30cc Warbirds/AT-6 Texan. The Golden Era models used up to 80cc engines whilst the Reno models are limited to 63cc engines.

Whilst Friday was blown out resulting in no flying, Saturday and Sunday were great days and the racing was close. A very big thank you to CD Trevor Pearce and his band of helpers who manned the course and fed us for the full 2 days.
