The original E-flite Timber 1.5m was the STOL starting point for a lot of RC pilots. Recommended as the next step RC plane after a trainer due to its pilot-friendly handling, take-off and land pretty much anywhere capabilities, and, agile sport performance, the Timber has gained quite a following amongst RC flying enthusiasts. The next evolution was the Turbo Timber 1.5m which proved to be even more popular than the original with the inclusion of a power system that was 3S and 4S compatible, 3-blade propeller on a turboprop nose plus some metal-geared servos were added. Fast forward to now and the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m is ready to raise the bar higher with increased capabilities, durability, and convenience... and an updated new look!

Incorporating all the popular features from the Timber and the Turbo Timber, the new E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m also includes combined connectors for easier wing installation and removal plus a new top hatch for easier and quicker access to the large battery compartment. The wing design on the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m features drooped wingtips and functional slotted slats and will also accept optional-use leading-edge slats that are included to improve slow flight and STOL performance. The high-powered brushless motor and the lightweight design ensure your Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m will leap into the air or float down to land in as little space as two feet.

Most models of this size can’t handle flying off dirt trails, thick grass, gravel paths, lakes/ponds but the power to weight ratio of the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m means you can literally take off and land just about anywhere. With strengthened and reinforced mounts in the fuselage plus oversized tundra-style wheels and tyres attached to the shock-absorbing landing gear, this RC plane can take it all in its stride. Within a matter of minutes, you can swap out the wheels and tyres and install the float set (included) which has dual water rudders for outstanding steerage when taking off or landing on water.

The 60mAh Spektrum Avian Smart ESC installed in the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m brings another dimension to flying this modern-day classic. The Smart ESC will provide the pilot with real-time telemetry data from multiple power system related sources including battery voltage, current, and motor RPM plus more via compatible Smart receivers one of which, the AR637TA, is installed in the BNF Basic version. These will display on your Spektrum Airware equipped transmitter (DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, the iX12, iX20, and others) while you are flying. There is an optional use motor reversing feature to enable ground handling in tight spots while the easily accessible battery hatch can fit 2200mAh 3S to 5000mAh 4S LiPo’s to give you flight performance and air time options.

If you own a Spektrum transmitter already then getting the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m airborne will be even easier. With the servos, power system and 2.4GHz Spektrum receiver already installed it is simply a matter of binding the receiver to your transmitter and you are ready for take-off!

The Spektrum DSMX receiver fitted in the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m features the AS3X (Artificial Stabilization 3 aXis) system that nullifies the effects of turbulence and wind by working behind the scenes to provide increased precision and stability when your RC plane experiences non-optimal flying conditions.

SAFE Select is optional technology that gives the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m an extra margin of safety by enabling features that will ensure your flight envelope is limited to keep you out of trouble until you are a better flyer or have familiarized yourself with the controls. No programming is required to engage SAFE Select as it is built into the receiver. You just need to follow the manual directions and change up the binding sequence to switch it on.
