Product Information
When E-flite released the hugely popular DRACO 2.0m model of Mike Patey's legendary bush plane, some were asking for a more convenient, affordable and easier to fly scaled down version that could be flown in smaller spaces and places – enter the E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm! This RC plane is slightly larger than the Ultra Micro eXtreme (UMX) planes which means the complex design of the DRACO can be better replicated and includes many scale details.
The E-flite DRACO goes micro!
The scale surface details on the E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm include panel lines, control surface corrugation, moulded-in rivets, wingtip stinger skids, steps, antennas plus more. There are also functional scale details which include an array of LED lights for navigation, landing and simulated strobe purposes. Moveable flaps help with the Short Take Off Landing (STOL) capabilities, while the oversized tundra-style tyres absorb bumps. They are affixed to a sprung wire main gear with simulated KING shocks and also give you excellent prop clearance. These tyres and landing gear also allow your E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm to taxi across many different surfaces that most models this size can't handle – gravel, grass, pavers and dirt are all potential runways.
Versatile flying with a powerful brushless motor and battery choices
With a 3S or 4S compatible high-powered brushless outrunner motor driving the 4-blade propeller you have many flying options are your disposal. Smooth and slow basic aerobatics and scale flying are easily achievable with a 3S battery installed. If you want to push your E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm a little harder you can install a 4S battery and perform aggressive acrobatic performances as well as better-than-scale vertical climb without the need for upgrades or modifications.
Telemetry integration and advanced flight technologies
If you want to install the Spektrum AirWare app on a compatible transmitter (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, the iX12 to 20, and others) you can get live telemetry data back from your E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm via the factory installed Spektrum ESC and receiver. If utilised you can get real-time telemetry data including motor RPM, battery current and voltage and more. This Spektrum receiver also has expertly tuned and exclusive AS3X technology programmed in that will give you a locked-in feel that is normally only associated with much bigger aircraft as well as a stabilising function that works in the background making hundreds of slight adjustments to help you cope with the effects of turbulence and wind. Offering further assistance to the pilot is the optional use of SAFE Select technology which provides flight envelope protection in the form of pitch and bank angle limits plus an automatic self-levelling function that will help you out if you need to regain control. If you're feeling confident you can turn this function off with the flick of a switch.
The lightweight yet durable airframe on the E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm is constructed with advanced EPS material that can be repaired easily with foam-safe/odourless CA, epoxy, Foam 2 Foam and a range of other foam-friendly adhesives. The only thing you need to do to get your Micro DRACO RC plane ready to hit the skies is to tighten a single screw to fit the one-piece wing which can be taken off again for quick and easy storage and transportation. Not only do the scale details help your E-flite Micro DRACO 800mm perform well, but it also comes with a factory-finished premium painted decal trim scheme in the famous red livery. Performance, scale detailed looks and finish AND affordability mean you are in for a brilliant DRACO flying experience!
The Micro DRACO is a Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) Basic aircraft that includes a Spektrum receiver equipped with industry-leading DSMX/DSM2 technology so intermediate to experienced RC pilots can use their compatible transmitter, battery, and charger.
Skill Level 2 RC plane
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots with some experience and the skills to assemble and/or set up and fly similar class models. Although this is the easiest-to-fly DRACO model yet, it’s not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or a “next step after a trainer” model for low-time RC pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly higher performance ultra-micro models like the various UMX Timber models or larger models like the Slow Ultra Stick 1.2m, Valiant 1.3m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Micro DRACO.
Are you new to flying RC (Radio Controlled) aircraft? If you are, Micro DRACO is not a suitable first-ever RC model, and we recommend learning to fly with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft, such as the HobbyZone® Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m. Based on the Carbon Cub Mike’s wife, Chandra Patey, used to fly, it’s equipped with exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes nearly everything needed to fly (except for a compatible LiPo battery and charger that are sold separately or together in a money-saving Powerstage bundle) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.
