We’ve restocked some favourite items this week, including Premier Aircraft’s Flex Jet and Cap 232, the E-flite V900, as well as the Trail Honcho and Jeep Cherokee SCX10 IIs by Axial. Let’s get into it!
Flex Jet Thrust Vector SuperThe Flex jet from Premier Aircraft is a super-capable, electric-ducted fan jet. This has been out for a while in the two colours (red and blue), but Premier Aircraft have updated it by adding thrust vectoring, meaning it's opened a wider range of 3D manoeuvres this model can perform, and there’s more control authority, so essentially, you're capable of doing a lot more in the air. The jet comes close to almost assembled, coming pre-fitted with the Aura

We're going to take a walk through the types of battery connectors on offer and also the ones that will work with multiple brands to make understanding your “plugs” that little easier.
A majority of the batteries within the RC market come with four main plugs fitted, these are Deans, EC3, XT60, and JST, or some variant of these like EC5 (a bigger version of the EC3 which can handle higher current through it). All these serve a purpose. When fitting a new plug the Deans style are normally easier to work with (solder) if you have some experience as they have a small tab to solder onto. It means that any overheating of the tab while soldering can result in heat transferring to the plug housing, for beginners out there,

What does Mode refer to when purchasing a model aircraft radio transmitter (controller)? The Mode of an aircraft transmitter is the configuration of the primary flight control sticks. Typically Throttle, Pitch, Roll and Yaw. For the most part, transmitters can be purchased in either mode. For the minority that can only be purchased in a certain mode, brands like Spektrum, Jeti and HiTec can have a mode conversion performed. Mode 1 and 2 being the most spoken about, but Mode 3 and 4 also available in some cases.
What Mode should I choose?
This is a question we get asked regularly from new customers. In the early days of model aviation here in Australia model aircraft were traditionally flown on Mode 1 (throttle control on the right stick). This has been

Axial Yeti Jr. Can-Am Replica
Axial has teamed up with Can-Am to produce a realistic Maverick X3 rock racer in a 1/18th scale with a detailed Can-Am finish. This RC car comes with some great features and is ready to run out of the box. One of the big differences between this and previous Axial models is now that they're owned by Horizon Hobby some changes have been made to the electronic package. A Spektrum STX2 transmitter, receiver and a Spektrum servo are included as standard – it also uses a Dynamite 380

An Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) is a device that regulates the power of an electric motor, allowing it to throttle from 0% to 100%. There are two styles of Electronic Speed Controller, Brushed and Brushless. Both work on the same principle.
An ESC is made up of three key components. A BEC/voltage regulator, a Processer and the switching consisting of FETs (field effect transistor). Now let's get a little technical.
The BEC/voltage regulator is a division of the ESC that will send a set amount of power (typically 5v 1Ah) back to your receiver to then power your servos. This also has a secondary function whereby if the battery that is driving the motor reaches its minimum voltage the BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) will reserve power for the flight critical controls, making sure the motor doesn't take all the power from the battery.
The processor is

Many transmitters work on 2.4GHz protocols. What is it, and can I use any receiver with any transmitter?
The 2.4Ghz band was first introduced to Radio Control by the Spektrum brand with the now famous Spektrum DX7 Transmitter. It replaced ‘crystal’ technology which consisted of the 36, 40 and 27mhz systems that were on a given ‘channel’. There were many reasons for the change, however the most relevant is to allow more available frequencies, or “spots”, for people to operate their models on. The 2.4Ghz offers incredible reliability, the shorter wavelength also brings less signal penetrating power (less range), however, this can be combated with a higher RF (radio frequency) power output which is built into 2.4Ghx Transmitter systems. Longer wavelengths like the old 36, 40 and 27Mhz bands did offer that long wavelength and penetrating power for a relatively low radio-frequency power outputs but were

As you are browsing through the Modelflight website you will notice that the newer releases from Horizon Hobby are equipped with a S.A.F.E receiver but what is it exactly? What is for and how do you use it?
1. Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope
S.A.F.E technology or (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) came about in 2013 developed by the good folks at Horizon Hobby who essentially wanted to help or assist inexperienced RC pilots gain confidence when flying. The first time we saw SAFE it was partnered with a re-release of arguably the most popular training plane ever sold – The E-Flite Apprentice. This was an absolute game-changer and revolutionized the way we look at the world of trainer aircrafts.

New and improved 4WD RC bashers from ARRMA
We're going to cover a couple of new releases from ARRMA that have just arrived – the Talion and Typhon. They're fantastic and exciting cars, so let's get into it and show you the differences between these 2019 specs and the older cars.
The Talion and the Typhon 2019 Spec both have some updates from the previous 2018 version. The most notable updates are the change to a Spektrum radio system and the use of the new IC5 connectors. Like their predecessors, these cars come in an almost ready to run configuration. Both the Talion and Typhon can take up to 6S power and that's what ARRMA provides, super-fast cars that are extremely durable, designed to bash and take anything you can throw at it. Both RC cars come pre-built with
