Most Frequently Asked Questions
General Information How big is the fuel tank in my Traxxas nitro model? The fuel tanks that are used in our 1/10 scale nitro cars and trucks (except T-Maxx) hold 75cc of fuel. You will get approximately 16 tanks to each quart of fuel (64 tanks per gallon). The fuel tank in the T-Maxx holds 125cc of fuel. The fuel tank in the Nitro Vee holds 200cc of fuel. to the top
How long do Nitro Models run on one tank of fuel? There are many variables which affect fuel economy and run time such as the fuel mixture settings and the size and weight of the vehicle. Typically, you can expect to get about 10 minutes of run time from one tank of fuel. Nitro models can be quickly refueled without shutting the engine off, making hours of continuous run time possible. The Monster Buggy (1/6 scale) will run for about an hour on one tank. T-Maxx will run for about 15 minutes and the Nitro Vee boat will run for about 20-25 minutes before requiring fuel. to the top
What are the differences between a Nitro Sport SE and the Nitro Rustler 2.5? The Nitro Sport SE is designed to be a less expensive entry into the nitro R/C hobby. It has a powerful Pro.15 engine, which features dual needle carburetor adjustments. The Nitro Sport SE chassis is made from both composite and aluminum materials, and the transmission is now equipped with a slipper clutch. It also uses a simple direct steering mechanism, and has a top speed of 38mph. The Nitro Rustler 2.5 is the big brother to the Sport SE, and features the very high performance and critically acclaimed TRX 2.5 Racing Engine. The Nitro Rustler 2.5 also features a bell crank steering system, full aluminum chassis, and full ball bearings. The gearbox, suspension, and shocks are the same on both trucks. The incredible power of the highly sophisticated TRX 2.5 Racing Engine propels the Nitro Rustler 2.5 to top speeds of over 47mph (over 50mph can be achieved with the optional 22 tooth clutch bell gear). Due to the increased adjustability and speed, the Nitro Rustler 2.5 is better suited for more experienced enthusiasts. Both the Nitro Sport SE and the Nitro Rustler 2.5 are equipped with onboard electric starting systems. The EZ Start™ electric starting system fires up the Nitro Sport SE, while the Nitro Rustler 2.5 is started by the newly designed EZ Start 2 electric starting system made exclusively for the TRX 2.5 engine. to the top

What is "nitro" and what percentage of "nitro" should I run in my engine? Nitromethane is the ingredient in the fuel that actually burns (ignites) inside the engine. A higher "nitro" content equates to better performance but also hotter running. The hotter your engine is run, the quicker the internal parts of your engine will wear. 20% Nitromethane content has been determined to be safe to run in your model engine to get good performance and still get long life out of your engine. I would recommend using 20% Traxxas Top Fuel to get the best performance out of your engine (especially if you live in a cooler climate) as long as you are not noticing unusually hot running. If you live in a hotter climate or notice your engine running unusually hot, you may want to consider using 10% Traxxas Top Fuel. Traxxas Top Fuel is the only fuel guaranteed to provide maximum life and top performance from your TRX engine. It is available in both 10% and 20% nitro blends. to the top
Do any of your nitro models have reverse? Yes! The T-Maxx is our first nitro vehicle to have a reversing mechanism. None of our other nitro vehicles have reverse. to the top
How fast is the Nitro Stampede? The Nitro Stampede is equipped with the TRX Pro .15 engine which features a 6.0mm big-bore carburetor. With a fully broken-in engine, running Traxxas 20% Top Fuel™, the Nitro Stampede can reach speeds of around 35mph running on a long, flat straight-away. to the top
How can I convert my Nitro Sport to a Nitro Rustler? STEP 1: Installing the 6.0mm Big-Bore carburetor and a slipper clutch would be the first step to increase the speed and performance of your Nitro Sport. Installation of these two parts will bring your speed up to 40mph (the same speed as the Nitro Rustler). The slipper clutch is required to protect the gears and driveline from the added power that the Pro carb delivers. Part #4033 Pro big-bore carburetor (6.0mm bore) Part #4615 Slipper Clutch STEP 2: The extra power that the Pro carburetor delivers can sometimes cause an increase in the engine temperature. Installing the Pro cooling head will provide more cooling for your engine if you notice that it is overheating. Part #4032 Pro head (blue-anodized) STEP 3: The following are parts used to change the direct steering of the Nitro Sport to the bellcrank steering of the Nitro Rustler. Bellcrank steering will give you better handling, quicker steering response, and less bump steering. Part #4430 Lower Chassis Part #4431 Upper Chassis Deck Part #4432 Fuel Tank Box Part #2543 Bellcranks Part #2545 Bellcrank Bushings Part #1942 Hollow Ball Connectors Part #1937 Turnbuckles Part #2334 Turnbuckles Part #1935 Turnbuckles Part #3744 Servo Saver Part #4453 Muffler Hanger Part #3185 3x8wm screws, (for receiver plate/steering servo) (6) Part #2553 3x15csm screws, (for tie rods/draglink) Part #3176 3x10cst, (for chassis assembly) Part #2560 3x10rst, (for top plate assembly) Part #3187 3x15wm, (for bellcrank attachment) to the top
Do you offer any nitro models as unassembled kits? Traxxas has recently made its first nitro vehicle in kit form (unassembled). The Nitro 4-Tec Pro kit is an unassembled kit with all of the upgrade parts (such as aluminum shocks, graphite parts, pro ball diffs, etc.) but does not include a radio system, tuned pipe, body or engine. All of our other nitro models, at present time are offered as fully-assembled models with or without a radio system installed. We do not currently have plans to produce our other nitro vehicles as unassembled nitro kits. to the top
