Tamiya Baja King

This item is no longer available. Its kept only as an archive. Please do not email us about availability or other questions about it. Thanks.

Tamiya presents an off-road R/C buggy on the entry-level 4WD TL-01 chassis. The body will be a variation of the popular Baja Champ. The body design for the Baja King is based on the image of machines in the famous Baja 1000 off-road race. Body features pipe frame and lightweight cowling to realize nimble running.

The Baja King body is to mounted on the TL-01B chassis, which is a modified, long suspension arm and long damper version of the TL-01. This chassis also can be fitted with a plethora of options parts for grading-up and customizing. Three gear ratios can be selected- 7.96 (pinion: 06-19T), 7.20 (06-21T), or 6.57 (06-23T). Chassis, star dish wheels, and spire spike tires are the same as the Baja Champ. Comes with RS-540 motor, polycarbonate body and rear wing, as well as 3-step speed controller.

Optimum weight balance

Steering servo has been mounted in the center of the chassis to make left and right steering balanced. Battery has also been placed in the center of the chassis to obtain an optimum weight balance and realize ease of control.

High-grip spike tires

The suspension consists of 4 independent double wishbone coupled with long suspension arms to achieve excellent performance. The spire spike tire tread pattern provides high grip.

Shaft-driven 4WD chassis

The Baja King is based on the shaft-driven 4WD TL-01B chassis. The chassis center part between front and rear gearboxes is composed of two one-piece halves. This feature allows ease of assembly and a high rigidity.

Large type rear wing

On the front part, pre-applied stickers give an agile look to the Baja King. To make the car even more realistic, mufflers have been molded on each side of cockpit. Moreover the large type rear wing reinforces the Baja King's powerful form. Body and wing have been made of polycarbonate to make it highly resilient.

1/10 RC Car Series

This 4WD chasssis probably has the lowest cost of ownership. As with the TB01, it is shaft driven, and can take jumps very well in its stock form
TL01 CHASSIS

Yet another Rally type chassis from Tamiya, it is the shaft driven TL01. This 4WD chasssis probably has the lowest cost of ownership. As with the TB01, it is shaft driven, and can take jumps very well in its stock form. The TL01 as a touring car will need a few key upgrades (not that the stock kit can't be raced, but it'll be much better with these upgrades) - the TL01 Long Arm Suspension set, and a set of oil filled shocks. More competitive owners will install the carbon drive shafts. A key point to note is this chassis can only take Stick type battery packs, at least without major modification to the chassis.

Tamiya TL01 CHASSIS - Shaft-drive 4WD Direct Efficient Shaft-Drive 4WD.
Tamiya TL01 CHASSIS - Double-wishbone suspension Double wishbone suspension, controls the feedback from the road as the tight ridgid knuckle-arms house the power delivering axels.
Tamiya TL01 CHASSIS - Type 540 motor This all-time 4WD chassis gets it's power from a rear-mounted Stock 540 motor, that can be upgraded when the need for speed arises.
Tamiya TL01 CHASSIS - Front & rear diff. gears. The power of the motor is directed through the front and rear gearboxes equally and efficiently.
