The E-Flite UMX Habu - The Top Gun RC Plane

The second ultra-micro EDF from E-Flite, the UMX Habu 180 DF has the same shape of the original Habu 32, and with the included AS3X technology (similar to that seen in the Carbon-Z Cub), you will feel like you are actually flying a larger model. AS3X technology also allows you to experience a smooth flight, even in moderate winds. This RC jet is powered by a Delta-V 180m 28mm EDF Unit and a brushless 180m ducted fan motor, with 11750Kv of power; outstanding performance for such a small plane.  E-Flite have also engineered the intake and exhaust ducts to eliminate the need for cheater holes.

Here is a quick video from Matt, who was able to unbox and review the UMX Habu:

The UMX Habu Ducted Fan Jet has a full 4-channel operation, straight out of the box. Because it is a Bind-N-Fly model, there is no building involved. All you have to do is supply your own transmitter and bind it to the Habu. Plese refer to the “You May Need” section for more details. This model R/C plane is equipped with performance linear servos, which are designed to give you better response and control. The landing gear on this E-Flite jet can also be removed; giving the plane a clean look in the air. Additionally, the plane comes with steerable nose gear, which provides great ground handling. It comes with a high visibility trim schemeThis is one bold model aircraft for the boldest of pilots. Order the E-Flite UMX Habu today.

If you like this plane, you should also check out the ParkZone Habu 2.

This was my 2nd EDF after the UMX MIG. If anything flies (and looks) even better than that beauty. Couldn't be happier. Flies beautifully. I am intermediate and very comfortable on this.

Rudder authority is not great for knife edge. Seems nose heavy, even with a small battery jammed right back in the bay needed noticeable uptrim. Seems like the same sort of power as the umx mig 15 with a much lower wing loading. Seems much faster due to better aerodynamics. Much easier inverted flight. Almost too stable to be as much fun to grapple with. Flies great. Really only marked it down for the cg issue. Just seems like a battery tray with so much room should allow battery positioning for a neutral elevator trim. Would be four otherwise, and a five star flier with better rudder and a little more power. Fun though and well worth buying if you don't care about prolonged level knife edge.

This thing is a HOOT!
Flies really well and is super stable. Hand launch is super easy - slight toss at 30 degrees, full throttle and it slowly builds up speed in a very stable manner. Then you can fly flat out at all times or if your a beginner just puddle about at 1/3 throttle. Yep a beginner could fly this (but not at full throttle) it is that stable.
Looks great in the sky, sounds great and is super easy to land. You just get low, cut throttle, keep level and it slowly drops harmlessly into grass! Reload and fly again!

I bought the micro Habu as my first EDF model and was a little apprehensive as to whether or not I would handle it.
It is so easy to fly that it made me look good!
Inverted flight, rolls and loops no problem and easy to land.
Flies well slow or fast.
I have another model with AS3X and its like riding a horse that wants to do something other than I do, but not so with the little Habu.
Things I like:
Performance far exceeded my expectations
Looks great
Fast but flies flat at slower speeds as well
Handles wind very well
Pretty much everything.

Things I don't like:
I didn't by enough batteries to begin with as the flight time is fairly short, but have since remedied this.

Summary- Great design and performance = happy customer.
