The Ranger is designed as a thermal soarer, to be launched off the flat using a winch or bungee. It can also be used as a slope soarer in light to medium winds.
At 840gms (30oz) all up weight including radio gear, the Rangers wing loading is just 23gms/sqdm (7.9oz/sqft). The combination of a low wing loading and the well proven Selig 4310 wing section, gives the Ranger a very gentle stall and an excellent thermal soaring performance!
The wing has a full length fiberglass top spar and a carbon fibre bottom spar in the centre section, which gives it a lot of strength for winch launches.
The Ranger uses the same successful balanced rudder design as used on the Eaglet to produce solid responsive control. With more dihedral than the Eaglet, the larger sized Ranger handles tight thermalling turns easily.
The Ranger is ideal as a first model or a general purpose thermal/slope soarer for those relaxed Sunday afternoon flying sessions.

The other great thing about the Ranger – apart from being a lot of fun to fly, is that the wing is removable, giving full access to the receiver and a more compact model to transport. With its tail assembly from coreflute, the wing and fuselage from EPP and a removeable wing, the Ranger can handle the knocks easily.
